From the beginning of his career, David Macfarlane has worked in the field of second language education, both in Canada and abroad, in particular in Africa. He was for many years learning specialist with the New Brunswick Department of Education and Early Childhood Development where, along with other responsibilities, he was heavily involved in piloting the Intensive French (IF) program, training teachers in the Neurolinguistic Approach (NLA) and participated in the development of a number of teaching units for Post-Intensive French (PIF). Since retirement, he has acted as an independent consultant and facilitates workshops across the country, specialising in the neurolinguistic approach. He is involved in a number of projects focussing on the development of curricula for Aboriginal Language programs.
